My New Ride

Last Friday, I got my new bike, Hero Honda, Splendor NXG 100CC black. Here's a photo.



Well, I hadn't been able to take it anywhere in the week-end. Still have to register and insure. So without those I can't put it out. Have to get it fast to take my first visit, may be to Anusha's place on this weekend.

At the same time, I am advised not to go beyond 40 kmph, until the 1st service; that would be after 750 km. That is a big ask for me. OMG, I want to go fast........ But have to wait, yeap I know that. SLOW AND LOW, IS ALWAYS THE FLOW......

Sad days.......

First, let me wish all the Sinhala and Tamil brothers and sisters, a very happy New Year. But for me, this year is not at all good. The latest addition to it, is my grandfathers departure. Let me tell you about it a little.

It was 6th April (Monday), which started as a normal day; I went to office and do my usual work; returned home around 7.30 pm. So I had a shower, and a cup of tea, as usual. It was around 8.15, where my sister came to know that my grandfather, who was paralyzed for about 2 months, pass away. He was with us for the past 20 years (well, as long as I can remember) and aged 93 on death. It is a big miss, especially for me, because he was the one with me all the time, from my little ages. I loved to listen to his stories in those days. I, with my friends sit around him to hear those beautiful stories about princes & princesses, kings & queens, animals, wars, etc... Ahhhh, those are lovely days.

So, with the help of our relatives and neighbors, we took the cremation on 8th (Wednesday) and we had an arms giving for bhikkus on 12th (Sunday). So we didn't celebrate the new year this time, which was celebrated on 13th and 14th.

As of to our religion (i.e. Buddhism), we believe that my grandfather will attain Nirvana during his non-ending life. I wish he would born as my grandfather again and again during my long life-cycle.

අන්දරේගේ කවි......

කලින් මම රාජසිංහ රජුගේ කවි ටිකක් දැම්මා මතක ඇති. මට දැන් හොයාගන්න පුළුවන් වුනා අන්දරේගේ කවි වගයක්. බලන්න මේවා මතකද කියලා.....?

මුලින් අන්දරේ ගැන පොඩ්ඩක් කියලා ඉන්නම්. අවුලක් නෑනේ.......

අන්දරේ කියන්නේ, කවටයෙක්, රාජ සේවකයෙක්, නුවණැත්තෙක්, කවියෙක්; සේරටම වඩා හොද මිනිහෙක්. ඒ හින්දා තමයි අන්දරේ බාල, තරුණ, මහලු කා අතරත් එකවගේ ජනප්‍රිය වෙලා ඉන්නේ. හරි, අන්දරේ ඉපදුනේ මාතර දික්වැල්ල ප්‍රදේශයේදී. ඔහු රාජාධි රාජසිංහ රජු (ක්‍රි.ව. 1782 - 1798, මහනුවර) යටතේ රාජ්‍ය සේවය කළා. හරි, දැන් එහෙනම් අන්දරේ කියපු කවි ටිකක් අහමු.

අපි හැමෝම දන්න විදියට, අන්දරේ වැඩියෙන්ම කවි කියලා තියෙන්නේ කාන්තාවන්ට. බලන්න මේ කවි දිහා.......

1. වතට ලවනතට නුඹ බලන බැල්මට

වරලසට ‍බෙල්ලට නළලට නාසිකාවට
ගමනට බසට නුඹ හට ලොබ කළ මෙමට
මොනවට කියම් නිදි නැත රැය තුන් යමට

පීනුන් නොදැන බැස්සා වැන්න මහ ගගේ
මාළුන් කෙලියාට දිය බොර වේද ගගේ
ගෑනුන් දුටුවාම බඩ දගලාය මගේ

8. මහමී කුඩාමී වනයේ බොහොම ඇතී
කොයි කොයි මලෙන් මුත් බඹරුන් රොන් ගනිතී
කොතන උනත් හරිනෙද මැණික රුව ඇතී
රුව ඇත්නම් අඩු කුලයද කමක් නැතී

9. පල ඇත්නම් වවුලොත් එල්ලෙති පේණු
රුව ඇත්නම් අපටත් බස් දෙති ගෑණු
දෑසින් එයි කදුලු බිදු නොහැකිය වාණු
ඉතින් මොටද මේ වයසට නැති ගෑණු

මේ කවි වලින් පේන්නේ, අන්දරේ හොදට වගේම නරකටත් කවි කියා තියෙන බවක් නේද? කොහොමහරි අන්දරේ මුලින් නරකට කියලා පස්සේ හොදට කියපු කවි ද්විත්වයනුත් තියෙනවා. මෙන්න මේ වගේ.......

10.1. කට කැඩි කළේ සිය උකුලේ තබා ගෙන
ලොට තන දෙකක් ගෙරි සමකින් වසාගෙන
තඹත් ලෝකඩත් දෙවගේ පැළද ගෙන
රොඩී කෙල්ල කොයි යනවද උදෑසන

10.2. රන් බැදි කළේ සිය උකුලේ තබා ගෙන
රන් කුඹු දෙකක් පට සළුවෙන් වසාගෙන

11.1. බොහොම හොදට රන්කම් කල වැඩක් වගෙයි

කොහොඹ ගහට කරවිල වැල ගියා වගෙයි

Week out of Colombo.....

Well........, after a long time I got a little free time to update my blog. Things happened, in fact many, so many things happened. I can't write them all here. Anyway let me talk about my project which I'm handling these days.

As you know, I am employed at the leading mobile telecom services provider of the country, Dialog Telekom. So these days I'm handling a new BSC (Base Station Controller) project at down-south. Uhhhhh, it is a mess, yeah, totally mess. Last Friday we had the acceptance test, by which we are handing over the new BSC to operations section to put on live traffic. But, it was a failure. So I have to ruin this entire week now.

Anyway, the site is a beautiful place to visit. I got some photos to show you people.....



It's really nice, right....? Ok, so now I'm looking forward to a busy week again. Hope it'll be over this time.....

Pirith Pinkama.....

Last weekend was a tough one for me. I hadn't been able to sleep, that's why..... Anyway last Friday and Saturday nights I attended two Pirith events that took place in two of my friends houses. In there I met some of my old friends. As usual, these kind of events, we use them to meet each other, although the pinkama meant to be totally religious.

Following are some of the pics I took during those days.......

This is the Pirith Mandape, the place where bhikkus get in and chant pirith. They do it all through the night, starting at 9.00 pm, till next morning, probably around 6.00 am. Of course not by single person, they have a cycle. At first they start the pirith with at least 8 and to continue it, they use 2 at a time. Both of them chant pirith for one and half hours and give the position to another two to continue. This goes on until dawn.
So the others who are there to listen pirith have to support them in any case. We, the boys, mainly control the transpotation of bhikkus from temple to the house and vice versa. But we had the time to chat......

There were some people who couldn't resist the temptation of eating although we had a very heavy dinner........ and some can't help with the sleep. He likes to sleep on any place......

But above all I had 2 great, memorable days. It's good to meet the old friends........

So as a result of not having sleep, I slept continuously for 15 hours (oh my god, I can't believe it, from 3.00 pm to 6.00 am) last Sunday and recover myself....... Phew, that's a relief.....
